The project proposal is under Priority Axis 1 "Environment" and aims to improve the capacity for nature protection, sustainable use and management of waste and natural resources of the cross-border region.

The project activities will contribute to raising environmental awareness and waste management in the two cross-border areas. Recycling equipment will be installed in the area of ​​Meric, Turkey; mobile laboratory will start its activity in Haskovo region; a study of the condition of soil resources on both sides of the border will be carried out.

The project will include training of agricultural producers, which will include the following aspects of the environment: Atmosphere - air quality, sources of air pollution and consequences of pollution, pollution control; Water - water use and needs, water pollution problems, environmental prospects, water treatment and hazardous waste treatment; Solid waste management and soil pollution - waste management and treatment, soil characteristics and protective measures against soil pollution.

One of the key issues will be waste treatment. An important topic will be the implementation of sustainable agriculture. The goal of sustainable agriculture is to meet society's current needs for food and textiles, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
